I believe schools should teach basic financial skills before students finish secondary education. Young people are expected to make important money decisions soon after leaving school, yet many have never learned how interest, credit, taxes, or personal budgets work. First, practical financial education could help students avoid expensive mistakes. For example, understanding how credit-card interest grows may encourage a young adult to borrow more carefully. Second, budgeting skills can make students more independent when they begin university or start their first job. A simple classroom project could ask them to plan one month of rent, food, transport, and savings using a realistic salary. Some people argue that families should teach these skills, but not every parent has the same knowledge or experience. Schools cannot prepare students for every financial situation, but they can give everyone a useful foundation. For these reasons, basic money management deserves a place in the school curriculum.
