Model text

One goal I want to achieve this year is to improve my public speaking. I can explain ideas well in small groups, but I still feel nervous when I speak in front of many people. To improve, I am going to practise short presentations every week and record myself so I can notice problems. I also plan to watch experienced speakers and learn how they use pauses and body language. My aim is to give a confident ten-minute presentation by the end of the year. I know progress will take time, but I am ready to practise regularly.

Language focus

Build connected B1 writing:

Connect ideas with words such as because, however, for example, although, finally when they fit the task.

Develop, do not only list:

Explain why, add an example, or show a result.

Use a mix of simple and longer sentences, but keep every sentence easy to understand.

Remember:
At B1, your reader should be able to follow the text from beginning to end without guessing how the ideas connect.
