In this lesson, you will learn how to describe your home: what kind of home you live in, which rooms it has, what furniture is inside, and which room you like best.

I live in a small apartment with my family. It has two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a living room. There is a sofa in the living room. My favourite room is my bedroom because it is quiet and comfortable.

How to write

Useful phrases

Language focus

Use “There is” with one thing:

There is a sofa in the living room.

There is a table next to the window.

Use “There are” with two or more things:

There are two chairs in the kitchen.

There are three windows in the living room.

Remember:
It has two bedrooms.
There is a bed in my bedroom.
There are two lamps on the table.
Not: There are a sofa in the living room.
