CityCycle vs MetroPass: Which Subscription Is Better? I used both CityCycle and MetroPass for a month while commuting across the city. Although they solve the same basic problem, they suit different routines. CityCycle costs slightly less and gives unlimited thirty-minute bicycle journeys. The app shows available bikes clearly, and for trips under three kilometres I often reached my destination faster than by public transport. Its main weakness is reliability: during rain or busy evenings, finding a bicycle or an empty return dock can be difficult. MetroPass is more expensive, but it covers buses, trams, and the underground with no daily journey limit. It is therefore much more dependable for longer distances or bad weather. On the other hand, crowded services at peak times can make short journeys surprisingly slow, especially when a transfer is required. For me, CityCycle offered better value because most of my journeys were short and flexible. However, I would choose MetroPass if I had a fixed commute across several districts. CityCycle rewards people who can adapt their route and timing; MetroPass costs more but removes more uncertainty. The better subscription depends less on price than on how predictable your daily travel needs to be.
