Shopping talk
Goal
Talk about what people are wearing, name common clothes, shoes and accessories, and use simple phrases when you shop for clothes.
Key verbs for clothes
- wear = have something on your body as clothing or decoration.
She is wearing jeans and a T-shirt. - carry = hold something in your hand / on your arm / on your back.
He is carrying a big backpack. - put on / take off = start wearing / stop wearing.
I put on my coat. Please take off your shoes. - try on = wear something for a moment to see if it is OK.
Can I try this jacket on?
Match & go with
- match = have the same / very similar colour or style.
Your blue bag matches your blue shoes. - go with = look good together.

Clothes — tops, bottoms & outfits
