A few weeks ago, a new café called The Corner Table opened near the town library, and people started talking about it almost immediately. Some of my classmates said it was the perfect place to study, while others thought it was too expensive for a regular lunch. Last Saturday, my friend Mia and I decided to try it for ourselves after spending the morning in the city centre. We wanted somewhere warm, quiet, and comfortable where we could eat, talk, and escape the rain for a while.

My first impression was positive. The inside of the café was bright and modern, with large windows, wooden tables, and shelves of plants along one wall. Soft music was playing in the background, and the person at the counter greeted us with a smile and helped us find a free table upstairs. The menu was not huge, but it had a good mix of sandwiches, salads, cakes, and hot drinks. Mia ordered tomato soup and a cappuccino, while I chose a chicken sandwich and a slice of lemon cake.

Unfortunately, the service was slower than we expected. Although the café did not look completely full, only two members of staff seemed to be preparing drinks, serving tables, and packing takeaway orders at the same time. We waited nearly twenty-five minutes for our food, which felt too long for such a simple lunch. When the meals finally arrived, my sandwich was fresh and tasty, and the coffee was excellent, but Mia said her soup was warm rather than hot. That small detail did not ruin the meal, but it did affect our overall impression.

What I liked most was the atmosphere upstairs. It was quieter than the main floor, there was enough space between tables, and several people were reading or working on laptops. I could easily imagine going back there to study for an hour or meet a friend after class. Prices were a little higher than in some nearby cafés, but not unreasonable if you planned to stay for a while. In the end, I would recommend The Corner Table for coffee, cake, or a relaxed afternoon, but I would probably avoid it if I needed a quick lunch during a busy day.
