🧩 Word Order Rules

  • Before the main verb: She often listens to music.
  • After the verb "be": He is always tired after work.
  • After don’t/doesn’t in negative sentences: We don’t usually buy coffee to go.
  • After the subject in questions: Do you often study in the evening?

🚨 Important

Use never and hardly ever with a positive verb form:
✅ She is never rude.
❌ She isn’t never rude.

🕒 Expressions of Frequency

Longer time expressions (once a day, twice a week, every day) go at the end of the sentence:
➡️ I go to the gym twice a week.
➡️ I call my mom every day.

❌ Common Mistakes with Adverbs of Frequency

He isn't never tired. He is never tired. Don't use double negatives!
They don't hardly ever study. They hardly ever study. "Hardly ever" already means "almost never".
She always is hungry. She is always hungry. With "be", adverb comes after the verb.
Do often you go to bed late? Do you often go to bed late? Adverb comes after the subject in questions.
We go always to the gym. We always go to the gym. Adverb usually goes before the main verb.
