SHOULD HAVE + PAST PARTICIPLE
- You should have called me. (good idea in the past, but you didn’t)
- They shouldn’t have spent so much money.

Alternative
- ought to ≈ should (a bit more formal): You ought to rest.
- Negative: ought not to (often written oughtn’t to in BrE).
